著者のマーク・ピーターセン氏は、ワシントン大学大学院で日本文学を専攻した後、東京工業大学で正宗白鳥を研究、現在は明治大学政治経済学部教授という肩書きであるが、日本の大学受験生の諸君には、旺文社の『徹底例解・ロイヤル英文法』の英文校閲担当者としてよく知られているであろう。（この文、なんとなくトーンをそれっぽくしてみた・笑）
